Ask Claude or ChatGPT about hay the way you'd ask a friend: “I have 6 horses near Ocala. What's the cheapest way to get 3 months of timothy delivered?” With AgBid connected, it answers with the price at your gate, freight included, by the bale and by the ton, and puts AgBid's pooled trucks in the same list by the same math. It only reads: it can't buy, join, or see your account.

SAMPLE DATA: Sample data, not live listings. These sellers, prices, freight figures, and the AgBid pools shown (their fill counts, cutoffs and departures) are made up for development; none of it is real or verified. 6 horses for 3 months at 22 lb a horse a day is about 11,880 lb of hay (check that against what you feed). Each option is priced on that weight in its own bale size. Best for 3 months of timothy for 6 horses (about 11,880 lb): the AgBid pooled truck at about $15.26 per bale delivered ($555/ton), $3,523.91 for 231 bales, only if it ships: it needs 5 more bundles by the cutoff, unless the grower chooses before then to ship short. Best that does not depend on a truck filling: Sample Farm A at $15.33 per bale ($557/ton), $3,312.00 for 216 bales. Cheaper by weight only on a bigger order: Sample Farm B at $14.67 ($489/ton), 300-bale minimum, $4,400.00. AgBid runs these tools and the pools in this list; pools are held to the same fit rule and ranked by the same delivered price by weight as every other option, never moved up, and AgBid's fee is already inside each pool price. Options at about the amount you asked for, best first: 1. AgBid pooled truck (AgBid's own option), delivering in Ocala, FL: timothy 1st cutting from North Florida, 55 lb bales, 11 bundles of 21 = 231 bales: about $15.26 per bale delivered ($555/ton), $3,523.91. This lasts about 3 months for your 6 horses. Ships only if 5 more bundles commit by the cutoff, Sat, Oct 24, 12:00 PM ET (in 4 days), or the grower chooses before then to ship short and pay the missing freight; nobody is charged until the load is confirmed, by the grower or AgBid, and if neither happens nobody pays. This order is enough for its own delivery stop (10 bundles: 210 bales, 11,550 lb), so the truck would unload at your barn. [pool sample-p1] 2. Sample Farm A (Marion County, FL), timothy 1st cutting, 55 lb bales: $15.33 per bale delivered ($14.50 hay + $0.83 freight), $557/ton at the listed 55 lb bale, $3,312.00 for 216 bales. 216 bales of 55 lb; lasts about 3 months for your 6 horses. Freight: Seller's flatbed, about 2 hours. Quoted per load. Estimated $180.00 per load. [listing sample-l1] 3. Sample Feed Store C (Ocala, FL), timothy 1st cutting, 50 lb bales: $23.25 per bale delivered ($21.99 hay + $1.26 freight), $930/ton at the listed 50 lb bale, $5,533.62 for 238 bales. 238 bales of 50 lb; lasts about 3 months for your 6 horses. Freight: Store delivery within 20 miles; pickup is free. Estimated $75.00 per load, 4 loads. [listing sample-l3] Needs a bigger order than you asked for: 4. Minimum is 300 bales (18,000 lb): about 4.5 months for your 6 horses; make sure you have dry storage for it. Sample Farm B (South Georgia), timothy 2nd cutting, 60 lb bales: $14.67 per bale delivered ($11.50 hay + $3.17 freight), $489/ton at the listed 60 lb bale, $4,400.00 for 300 bales. Freight: Third-party semi, about 5 hours; 300-bale minimum. Estimated $950.00 per load. Freight is 22% of the delivered price. [listing sample-l2] Quality: nothing in this data says how good any of this hay is (no lab results, storage or weed information). Ask the seller for a recent lab forage analysis before you commit, and for a horse with insulin resistance or a history of laminitis ask for sugar and starch too. An AgBid pool's page shows the grower's lab results when they are on file. For a line-by-line breakdown of any listing beside the pool, call compare_to_agbid with listing_id and the same delivery_area. Open pools: https://staging.agbid.us/pools

The connector
One address works in every assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol. No account, no key.
On a phone? Custom connectors are usually added on the website (claude.ai or chatgpt.com, in your phone's browser or on a computer); once added there they generally show up in the app too. If you don't see Add custom connector, your plan or app version may not offer it yet.
Your assistant may warn that custom connectors aren't reviewed by it. AgBid's connector only reads hay prices and open pools: no login, no card, nothing it can buy.

Check it worked: ask “Use AgBid to list open hay pools near Ocala.” If the answer mentions sample pools of timothy from North Florida and alfalfa from Georgia, you're connected.
Menu names move between releases; look for “connectors” or “MCP servers.” Grok and other assistants can use the same address as soon as they accept custom connectors.
Try asking
- “I have 6 horses near Ocala. What's the cheapest way to get 3 months of timothy delivered?”
- “Is the AgBid pool cheaper than Sample Farm A for that, by the ton?”
- “What's the most I could be charged on the pool, and when?”
- “Any pools filling near Ocala this week?”
The sample freight is priced to Ocala and Marion County, FL; ask about those to see full answers.
What it can and cannot do
- It ranks every option, AgBid's pools included, by delivered price by weight, with the price per bale beside it, and says when a seller's minimum is bigger than what you asked for.
- It shows an AgBid pool the way the pool page does: the grower's price in full, the freight share, AgBid's fee and rate, the per-bale promise, and the condition it ships on.
- It knows nothing about hay quality yet; it tells you to ask for a forage analysis.
- It cannot join a pool, reserve hay, hold a price, or see your account.
